The Notebook - I Wrote You Everyday For A Year (2004)

Sam Shepard Frank Calhoun. Views Read Edit View history. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio Crimsons Peak Janeiro, Brazil. The Notebook tells the story of Beste Netflix Serien summer romance that turns into a romance never to be forgotten.

In an interview with IGN, the actress said that she also worked with a dialect coach for two months to get Allie's Southern accent down.

The actor told People that he ended up making the two chairs that Noah and Allie sit in on the front porch of the house. He also made the table that Noah and Allie have a romantic moment on.

Gosling has blue eyes in real life but, according to VH1 , he had to wear brown contacts to match the eyes of James Garner , who played older Noah.

The novel is told mostly from Noah's point of view, so Allie doesn't get as much character exploration. The movie, however, changed that to give Noah and Allie equal levels of perspective throughout the film.

I think that it makes the end so much richer because you get to see their memories and you get to see the memories that she's losing and the tragedy in that.

Cassavetes cast his mother Gena Rowlands as the older version of Allie in the film. Rowlands is an actress in her own right who started her career back in the s.

And "The Notebook" is not the only one of her son's films she's appeared in. Even years after the film's release, Marsden said he still gets fans coming up to him who are angry that his character almost kept Allie and Noah apart.

But he also told the publication that he occasionally hears people say they would've stayed with him. Cassavetes told VH1 that, according to the script, during the big fight scene Noah was just supposed to say to Allie: "Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants.

Nick Cassavetes wasn't the first choice for director. Variety reports that Steven Spielberg, Jim Sheridan and Martin Campbell were also interested in directing the movie.

The Notebook is the first novel Nicholas Sparks published. According to Biography , he started writing books in college but, his first two books were never published.

Rachel and Ryan won The MTV Award for Best Kiss and forever changed how the award is accepted. That kissing scene is more than iconic and at the MTV Movie Awards they won the award for Best Kiss.

When they accepted, they recreated the scene. Now, it's a tradition at the award show that the winners kiss when they accept the award.

The Notebook is making its way to the stage. Back in , Ingrid Michaelson, told Today that she was working on the music for the stage adaptation.

According to Playbill , it will premiere in Chicago in Allie's part in the book was expanded for the movie. The book is mostly from Noah's perspective.

You get to see his reactions to things Allie says or does, but it's not from her pov. The movie balances things out so you get both sides of their story and helps you understand her.

There's a special edition of the movie. A post on Nicholas Sparks' website talks about a special edition of The Notebook premiering on ABC Family now Freeform back in I went to see this film with my sister and my Mum and we were the only ones in the cinema.

Not the best start, but I continued to watch it anyway and am so glad I did. This is probably one of the most beautiful and romantic films I have ever seen!

From the relationship of the two characters to their surroundings, every scene is breathtaking! The Notebook tells the story of a summer romance that turns into a romance never to be forgotten.

Allie and Noah are the two lead characters and they are wonderful. You immediately fall in love with the characters and you want to follow every step of their doomed love story.

Look out for the lake scene, unbelievable! I came out of the cinema wanting to go back in again and watch it all over again.

It feels like you are reading a diary watching this film, thats how detailed and wonderful this film is. Cannot really give too much away about the story, all I can say is if you haven't seen this film yet, be sure to see it.

The Notebook was a hardcover best seller for more than a year. In interviews, Sparks said he was inspired to write the novel by the story of his wife's grandparents, who had been married for more than 60 years when he met them.

In The Notebook, he tried to express the long romantic love of that couple. The novel opens with Noah Calhoun, an old man, reading to a woman in a nursing home.

He tells her the following story:. Noah, 24, returns from World War II to his town of New Bern, North Carolina.

He finishes restoring an antebellum-style house , after his father's death. Meanwhile, Allie, 24, sees the house in the newspaper and decides to pay him a visit.

They are meeting, again, after a 7-year separation, which followed their brief but passionate summer romance when her family was visiting the town.

They were separated by class, as she was the daughter of a wealthy family, and he worked as a laborer in a lumberyard.

Seeing each other brings on a flood of memories and strong emotions in both of them. But if most people feel that way, then it becomes a logical impossibility.

Same thing with romantic love. Many people perceive it in their own lives, but doubt if other people do. I think The Notebook tapped into that feeling.

I live in a small southern town, and life there is different than in a big city. For example, a friend of mine got hurt recently. The doctor took care of him, drove to the office to pick up a temporary cast, returned, and then bandaged him up.

No charge, by the way. Small towns feed a nostalgia that people have for the way things used to be—simpler, less rushed, more community oriented, things like that.

The success has been wonderful. But other than that, our lifestyle is largely unchanged. Nor have our values changed.

Our relationship with each other, with our children, with our community, and with God, will always be the most important things in our lives.

That was a great experience. Parts were true; parts were made-up to benefit the story. It is, after all, a novel, not a memoir.

An educational edition was published under the Novel Learning SeriesTM banner. While Allie is being fitted for her wedding dress, she is startled and faints when she sees in the newspaper that Noah has completed the house to the specifications she made years before, and is trying to sell it.

Allie is overwhelmed with memories and unresolved feelings for Noah, and asks permission from Lon to take a trip before the wedding.

She returns to Seabrook to find Noah living in their dream house. The two rekindle their relationship and eventually consummate it. Several days later, Anne appears on Noah's doorstep to warn Allie that Lon has followed her to Seabrook.

Anne then gives Allie the letters that Noah wrote to her as an admission that she had hidden them from Allie. After an argument with Noah over whether she will stay with him or return to Lon, Allie drives back to her hotel and confesses to Lon her infidelity with Noah and her conflicting emotions about who she should be with.

Despite Lon saying that he still loves her in spite of everything, Allie decides to return to Noah. In the present narrative, it is revealed that the elderly woman is actually Allie now stricken with dementia and Duke is actually her husband Noah.

Years ago during the early stages of her illness, Allie wrote a journal detailing their romance and life together, and instructed Noah to read the story to her in order to help her recall her past.

One day during the reading sessions, she briefly remembers Noah, who reminds her of her dementia. She asks how long they have before she forgets again, and Noah tells her that the last time it happened, it was no more than five minutes.

They decide to spend this short time together dancing, but Allie soon forgets who Noah is again and in her ensuing panic, medical personnel are forced to sedate her.

After witnessing this scene, Noah suffers a heart attack and is sent to the hospital, while Allie is sent to a dementia ward in the same hospital. Upon recovering, Noah visits Allie's room in the night, causing her to remember him again.

He proceeds to remind her of her illness again, though he reassures her that they can do anything with the love they share.

They kiss, hold hands, and fall asleep together, with Noah telling Allie, "I'll be seeing you. The film rights to Nicholas Sparks's novel were acquired by New Line Cinema in , represented by producer Mark Johnson.

Filming was to start in but pushed back over rewrites. Cassavetes wanted someone unknown and "not handsome" to portray Noah; he therefore cast Ryan Gosling in the role.

I couldn't be more wrong for this movie. During two months, he rowed the Ashley River and made furniture. Actresses who auditioned for the role included Jessica Biel , [18] Britney Spears , [19] Ashley Judd , and Reese Witherspoon , [20] and Rachel McAdams was ultimately cast.

She and Ryan had great chemistry between them. I read the script and went into the audition just two days later. It was a good way to do it, because I was very full of the story.

Really, Allie drives the movie. It's her movie and we're in it. It all kind of depended on an actress. The Notebook was filmed mostly on location in South Carolina , in late and early , as well as the wintery battlefield just outside Montreal, Quebec.

Much of the film's plot takes place in and around Seabrook Island , an actual town which is one of the South Carolina " sea islands. However, none of the filming took place in the Seabrook area.

The house that Noah is seen fixing up is a private residence at Wadmalaw Island , South Carolina, [29] which is another "sea island" locality situated 10 miles closer to Charleston.

The house was not actually in a dilapidated state at any time, but it was made to look that way by special effects in the first half of the film.
